Khachatur Karapeti Yepranosyan
born 1941
1960 - 2000s
Khachatur Yepranosyan began his photographic practice in Moscow during his student years. After graduating and resettling in Armenia in 1966, he taught at the Polytechnic Institute while continuing to take photographs on his own time. Yepranosyan’s works are primarily portraits and landscapes done in his preferred black and white technique. They exhibit a formalist approach, through which the photographer attempted to demarcate the fundamental aesthetic faculties inherent to his chosen medium. Yepranosyan’s works have been periodically published in local press, especially on the pages of Garun(Spring) magazine, but were rarely shown publicly in exhibitions.
