The photographer’s biographical details are not known. It has not possible to establish which exact city in the Ottoman Empire he was primarily based in because his studio backstamps do not carry any information besides the photographer's name. 

Thantchoudian’s known portraits are typical of studio portraiture from the provincial areas of the Ottoman Empire. They are extremely simple and modest photo-records that almost exclusively represent clients from lower and middle class backgrounds. The photographer's life and practice probably came to an end during the 1915-20 Armenian Genocide.
