The biographical details of Studio Vahan’s proprietor have not been found. It is most likely that this Armenian photographer worked either in Cairo or Alexandria in the 1930s.

Vahan's studio specialized in ceremonial portraits and publicity shots. His photographs are closely related to the decorative styles and approaches that emerged in commercial Egyptian photography during the 1930s. Emphasizing (and often manufacturing) the physical beauty and lavish attires of his clients and models, Vahan’s portrait reflected the rapid establishment and spread of consumer culture in Egyptian modernity.
