Biographical information about this photographer has not been found. He was one of the many Armenian photographers based in Alexandria whose studio produced quite conventional portraits that show adequate craftsmanship but lack the more imaginative approaches of colleagues such as Apkar Retiran. Among the more interesting images produced by Shahen are family group sittings and wedding photographs. The majority of this studio’s production dates from the 1930s and early 1940s.
