The photographer’s precise biographical details have not been discovered. During the 1980s, Stepanyan had collaborated with Garun (Spring) magazine, where he published a number of impressionistic landscape studies. Their scarcity, however, does not allow us to form a general idea about the photographer’s overall practice. In all likelihood, Stepanyan was an independent or amateur photographer with an interest in ‘art photography’.
