Sarkis
1930 - 1930s
The photo-studio ‘Sarkis’ was located in Paris during the 1930s. It must have existed under that name for a relatively short time as we yet know of only one photograph signed by this photographer. It is a ‘glamour’ portrait very typical for the conventions of commercial European photography of the time. Contrary to the more polished and refined modernist style of other French-Armenian photographers such as Hakob Semerjyan and Abel Minasyan, Sargis' portrait is a lot more harsh and mannered in form. We have been unable to locate any biographical traces pertaining to the photographer.
