V. Margaryants' 'Svet i Tseni’ (Light and Shadow) photography studio operated from the 1900s until the establishment of the Soviet rule in Georgia. The photographer’s business was located on Vinny Pogody Street in Tbilisi. As can be garnered from the social characteristics of his sitters, Margaryants' studio was one of the more modest and affordable photographic establishments of the city, which produced simple and not particularly fetching portraits of students, workers, soldiers, and minor merchants. Details regarding the photographer’s biography are not known.
