Details regarding the photographer’s biography have not been found. Based most probably in Yerevan, Hovhannisyan worked for Garun (Spring) magazine as a freelance correspondent. Judging from a number of aesthetically accomplished photographs published there, Hovhannisyan had a strong interest in artistic photography and was particularly infatuated by stylistic traits borrowed from expressionism and symbolism.
