L. Harutyunyan
1920 - 1930s
We have very little information regarding the life and activities of this photographer working in Yerevan during the 1920s-30s. Harutyunyan is known for his photographs of Yerevan’s streets, monuments and surrounding landscapes. They are irreplaceable historical records of Yerevan’s transition from the imperial era to socialist modernity and represents sites, buildings and vistas which have now disappeared completely.
These skilfully made documentary images testify about Harutyunyan's tangible professional experience. It is possible that he was one of the staff photographers working at the photography unit of Haykino studio in the 1920s. Most of Harutyunyan’s surviving photographs are today held by Yerevan History Museum.
