Gevorg Sureni Gasparyan
1955 - 2004
1980 - 2000s
Archival photographer Gevorg Gasparyan started his career immediately after graduating from school by taking a job as a photographer at the E. Charents Museum of Literature and Art in 1973. (1) Between 1976-2004 he worked at the History Museum of Armenia and then at the National Gallery of Armenia while regularly taking on commissions from the Martiros Saryan House-Museum, The Sardarapat Ethnography, Erebuni Castle, The Folk Art and other museums of the Republic.
Apart from the photography of art objects, Gasparyan also documented historical and architectural monuments. In his personal work, he preferred the observation of nature and rural environments. Some of these images were published in various Armenian periodicals such as ‘Sovetakan Hayastan’ (Soviet Armenia) while his photographs of museum collections were used in dozens of photo-albums. In the 1990s the photographer took part in a series of group exhibitions organised in Iran, Italy, Germany and elsewhere.
