Garabed Gaedikian
1890 - 1900s
The studio of Garabed Gaedikian, who had established himself on Samos island in Greece, was founded at the end of the 19th century. Having most likely emigrated from Smyrna, he is one of the first Armenian photographers to have a permanent studio in that country. Gaedikian worked both in his pavilion and en plein air, usually executing individual and group portrait commissions. Notably, the photographer also specialised in landscape and architectural photography and his images of Samos’ monuments and views were distributed as postcards. These photographs are today of some interest for studies of Greek modernity of the early 20thcentury. No other biographical details have come to light.
