1950 - 1970s
Working from Leninakan (Gyumri), this photographer was a regional correspondent of the Armenian Telegraphic Agency for many years.(1) In his reportages Gabrielyan documented official and cultural events taking place in the city as well as the work of industrial, agricultural and agricultural organisations. In this capacity he correspondent with a number of local and all-union publications, such as the Ogonyok journal. Of particularly interest in the context of Armenian documentary photography are Khachatryan's 1960s reportages in which the photographer strove to rid his images of excessive narrativization, focusing instead on conveying the immediate sense of movement, spectacle and the environment.
