Photographer Avetik Badalyan began his career at an early age. In 1949 he graduated from Yerevan Cooperative Technicum, then began to work at the Armenian Telegraphic Agency (Armenpress) as a photojournalist in 1960. Working almost exclusively in reportage, Badalyan has associated with many of the local periodicals and newspapers. His preferred topics are Armenia's industry and cultural life. He is one of the first Armenian photojournalist to shoot in colour. Badalyan's photographs are predominantly of factual and illustrative nature of which the most successful are his instantaneous snapshots of street scenes.
