An engineer by profession, Karen Azizyan has been a working photographer since the late 1980s. From 1991 to 2001 he was a photojournalist in the Armenpress new agency. (1) Establishing his own advertising photo-studio miRED in 2000, Azizyan moved into the field of commercial photography. Simultaneously, in 2004 he began teaching photography in the Department of Applied Arts and Computer Graphics at the Yerevan Fine Arts Academy. In 2010, the photographer permanently relocated to Kyiv, Ukraine.

Azizian was one of the first post-Soviet specialists of commercial advertising and digital photography in Armenia.
