Located in the city of Sarigamish, Kars Province, Avetisov’s studio produced ordinary cabinet portraits carte de visites, few of which have survived. As the photographer's seal suggests, it was the city's main (quite possibly the only) photo-studio and served its mainly Armenian and Russian inhabitants. We have not been able to locate facts regarding his life and fate after the 1915 Genocide. Avetisov’s portraits are professionally made and are important visual documents for the study of this region at the turn of the 20th century.
