Abovyan's photography studio in Kars operated for several years during the early 1910s. Amongst his customers were often the officers of Kars’ Russian military infantry and their families. Judging from the surviving portraits, Abovyan's studio was well-furnished with professionally executed backdrops and props. His portraits display experience and technical mastery, but they are devoid of an individual approach.
