Photo Aram

1930 - 1940s

The biographical details of this studio’s proprietor are not known. Of Armenian origin, the photographer worked in Alexandria in the 1930s and 40s and specialized in portraiture. His works reflect the prototypal forms of commercial studio photography of that time - direct illumination, the explicitly staged poses and the use of ‘abstract’, geometrical volumes decorations. Photographs by Aram's studio are relatively rare, which suggests that his business did not survive for a long time.
